Jerome and Jacques are a London couple who run popular Instagram accounts for their Russian Blue cat Lupin and Bengal Rajah, attracting about 140,000 followers. Their feel-good pet content provides free therapy to busy Londoners. In January, Jerome experienced homophobic abuse while walking Lupin in a park and urged people to report such incidents. On 5 February at Hampstead station, Jacques reported to British Transport Police that a man stared at him, called him a pedophile, spat in his direction and left him distressed. Jacques believes the abuse stemmed from his appearance and a handbag featuring his cat.
