Pedro Pascal has reiterated his support for the trans community following a wave of anti-trans executive orders. He shared a powerful message from late activist Cecilia Gentili’s speech during NYU's Lavender Graduation. Gentili highlighted the seriousness of trans issues, emphasizing the importance of identity and storytelling. She expressed that despite societal attempts to suppress trans lives, individuals in the community endure and thrive by embracing their identities and histories. Pascal’s announcement reaffirms his ongoing commitment to trans rights amidst rising challenges.
Do not allow anyone to tell you that this is not a big deal, or that this is just a culture war, or that trans people are overstating the seriousness of what is going on.
Knowing your identity, who you are, and where you come from is powerful... I think one of the most important things that we can do for young people is to share those stories.
As long as we are rooted in ourselves, in our identities, in our histories, and in our communities, there is nothing that they can do to stop us.
