Ali Forney Center faces a major funding shortfall after losing more than $400,000 in corporate sponsorships amid federal cuts and a rightward shift in philanthropy. The centre was founded in 2002 in honour of Ali Forney, a 22-year-old queer person who was murdered after being disowned by their parents. Toward the Light: Artists for the Ali Forney Center is a benefit exhibition at David Zwirner in Chelsea (28 October–1 November) featuring 38 works by emerging queer painters and established artists to raise money for housing and care for over 2,000 queer youth. The show is organised by art adviser Stephen Truax and was initiated in 2023 by Doron Langberg.
