An online directory, Ask Bobby, has been launched to support mental health within the LGBTQ+ community in memory of Robin Windsor, a former professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing who died at 44. The initiative, founded by Windsor's best friend Davide Cini, aims to connect individuals with mental health organizations and resources. The platform addresses alarming rates of premature deaths in the LGBTQ+ community, particularly from suicide and drug abuse. Cini emphasizes the importance of Robin's legacy in helping others, especially during difficult times.
Helping others, including children and those with disabilities, to dance helped [Robin] during some of his darkest days. I think it's the legacy that myself, Robin's family and friends would like for him, so he can keep shining a light and help people within our community who are struggling.
The platform came to fruition after learning about how many people in the LGBTQ+ community die prematurely, noting that queer people are more likely to die from suicide and drug-related deaths.
