Indiana Republican Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith shared a church post advocating for the death of gay individuals. The church, Sure Foundation Baptist Church, faced backlash after a sermon by lay preacher Stephen Falco, who used homophobic slurs and linked LGBTQ+ individuals with harming children. The sermon was removed from YouTube for violating guidelines. Despite criticism, the church doubled down, asserting their belief that homosexuals deserve a death penalty according to their interpretation of the Bible. Their official stance includes denying membership to any homosexual.
Stephen Falco's sermon included inflammatory language, claiming that 'sodomites' threaten children and stating, 'You ought to blow yourself in the head in the back of the head.'
The church's message on social media asserted that 'sodomites - homosexuals - deserve the death penalty carried out by a government that actually cares about the law of God.'
Sure Foundation Baptist Church emphasizes their belief that 'sodomy (homosexuality) is a sin and an abomination before God which God punishes with the death penalty.'
