Gay son creates brand in honour of 'extremely supportive' late mum
"Now that you're gone, who will I go to for advice? Who will I celebrate my achievements with? Who will pick me back up when I fall? So many questions that I will carry with me forever. So many regrets. So many memories. So much love,"
"I explained to her that it was an art form for me, and with the bullying I experienced you have to turn to something for expression. She understood it at that point and she loved the looks I did. She always wanted me to do her makeup."
"She was a massive part of me accepting myself for who I was, and she was loud and proud in the end. She was very loving and didn't sugar-coat things."
Georgie Aldous launched Pembroke Avenue on 5 November as a fragrance and candle brand created in memory of his mother, Tracy, who died in January 2022 after a 2021 diagnosis of stage four aggressive blood cancer. The brand is named for the street he has lived on his entire life and features elements crafted to honour his mother's legacy. The company's website features the speech he gave at her funeral. The product range includes handmade candles and fragrances such as "Love is a Game" and candles like "Under the Stars", designed to evoke happy memories. Georgie recalls his mother's love of pleasant scents and her supportive role in his self-acceptance after he came out as gay at 16.
