Anti-trans protestors embarrassingly can't even name 5 women pro athletes - LGBTQ Nation
"One major criticism that pro-LGBTQ+ advocates have had since these bans started sweeping the nation 5 years ago was that most of the proponents of such bans don't actually care about women's sports except when they can use them as a cudgel to promote anti-trans policies. So Coach Jackie J came up with a really tough challenge for the protestors who claimed to be defending women's sports: Name five current pro women athletes."
"Most of the protestors struggled to name even one. One person mentioned "the Williams sisters who play tennis," even though Serena Williams retired years ago, and it's not clear that the person knew Serena's and Venus' first names. Another protestor brought up Riley Gaines, the University of Kentucky swimmer who tied for fifth place with a trans woman and who has built a career as a pundit on that experience, but not a career as an athlete."
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in two cases about bans on trans people playing sports. Protesters gathered outside, with many calling to 'Protect women's sports.' Coach Jackie J challenged protesters opposing trans participation to name five current professional women athletes. Most protesters could not name even one. One person referenced the Williams sisters despite Serena's retirement. Another referenced Riley Gaines, noted for her punditry about tying with a trans swimmer rather than for athletic achievements. Many proponents of the bans do not actually care about women's sports and use them as a cudgel to promote anti-trans policies.
