American satisfaction with state of LGBTQ+ rights reaches lowest point in over a decade
Briefly

According to Gallup's latest State of the Nation Survey, only 51 percent of Americans are satisfied with the acceptance of gay and lesbian individuals, reflecting a significant decline from 62 percent last year. This marks the lowest satisfaction level since 2013, coinciding with heightened political polarization. Satisfaction levels differ significantly between political affiliations, with higher satisfaction reported among Republicans than Democrats. Additionally, only 38 percent of Americans expressed satisfaction regarding the acceptance of transgender individuals, indicating widespread discontent across gender identity issues as well.
Just over half of Americans (51 percent) said they are satisfied with the nation's acceptance of gay and lesbian people, according to Gallup's annual State of the Nation Survey.
This is the lowest rate of satisfaction since 2013, when just under half (49 percent) of Americans said they were satisfied with national attitudes towards gay and lesbian people.
Significantly fewer respondents were satisfied with the acceptance of transgender people in society, with less than two in five (38 percent) saying that they are satisfied.
This partisan split was also present in other areas of the survey, including attitudes around gun laws, the position of Black and other racial minorities.
