State Names Four SoCal Jurisdictions as Prohousing
Briefly

Gov. Gavin Newsom named several California communities as prohousing for encouraging housing development across income levels. The state acknowledged these jurisdictions for supporting a state goal to build 2.5 million new homes by 2030 through reduced construction barriers, relaxed housing policies, and affordable home construction.
Prohousing communities, which now include 47 cities and counties, enjoy incentives and accountability measures under the state's Prohousing Designation Program. They receive grants, preference in scoring for various funding programs, and are eligible to apply for a share of $9.5 million through the Prohousing Incentive Program Round 2.
California added Berkeley, Crescent City, Fairfield, Pinole, Richmond, and South Lake Tahoe to the list of prohousing communities, emphasizing the state's progress in promoting housing initiatives. However, Gov. Newsom urged all local jurisdictions to strive for prohousing status as the state combats a housing crisis.
