"It's a beautiful setting, but you take the history associated with the house and it makes it just more special. Tony Ciabattoni, 53, who grew up watching The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, appreciated both the location and the celebrity heritage of the property he purchased for $1.85 million in May 1997."
"Built in 1955 as a weekend retreat, the Nelsons' Lagunita home is where the family came to relax during time off from filming the series. It was Ozzie's love of the ocean that drew them to Laguna, making this oceanfront property a significant part of the famous family's private life away from Hollywood."
The former oceanfront home of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson in Laguna Beach's gated Lagunita community is scheduled for demolition in October. New owners Tony and Jane Ciabattoni purchased the property in May 1997 for $1.85 million with plans to build a new residence. Architect Brion S. Jeannette designed a two-story, 6,000-square-foot Italian country home featuring three bedrooms, an office, exercise room, wine cellar, home theater, meditation chapel, and elevator. The Ciabattonis were attracted to the property's oceanfront setting and historical significance rather than the existing structure. The preliminary architectural plans have received approval from the Lagunita Community Association and will be reviewed by the city's design review board.
