How Kieffer Bellows gave Nashville Predators special moment in disappointing season
Briefly

After a challenging season, the Nashville Predators have managed to produce some remarkable moments, particularly highlighted by Kieffer Bellows scoring his first NHL goal in almost two years. His pivotal goal led to a 3-2 victory against the San Jose Sharks, showcasing his journey through previous struggles. Bellows, who was not widely utilized by the New York Islanders before joining the Predators, expressed gratitude for the team's support and hopes to continue contributing to their success in the final weeks of the season.
Bellows capitalized on a turnover forced by Filip Forsberg behind the San Jose net. Forsberg's pressure forced a late decision by goaltender Alexandar Georgiev and the puck came directly to Bellows in front of an empty net. "(Forsberg) did a good job of forechecking the goalie," Bellows said. "It just slipped out in front, so I made a move and lucky enough it went in."
After scoring 14 goals and 15 assists for the Milwaukee Admirals, Bellows was recalled in January after injuries to Mark Jankowski and Luke Evangelista. His goal against the Sharks was his first in an NHL game since March 25, 2023.
It means a lot," Bellows said. "Seeing how happy the guys were for me, that also means a lot. We're a close group here. I'm excited hopefully for more (goals) and to help this team win some games.
Bellows, 26, was a first-round pick by the New York Islanders in 2016. After playing in only 68 games for the Islanders in his first four seasons, Bellows was waived by the Islanders and claimed by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2022.
