Tony Gonsolin of the Los Angeles Dodgers was recently placed on the 15-day injured list due to discomfort in his right elbow, raising concerns following his recent return from Tommy John surgery. After a tough start to the season, he has been shut down from throwing, while tests reveal no structural damage to his ulnar collateral ligament. Manager Dave Roberts remains optimistic but notes uncertainty around Gonsolin's throwing resumption. He joins a significant number of injured Dodgers pitchers, with the roster now dealing with multiple absences in the starting rotation.
The UCL is intact ... which is great news," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts reported of the ulnar collateral ligament which Gonsolin had repaired via Tommy John surgery in 2023. "He's going to be down from throwing. I don't know when that is going to be again. I think the main takeaway is the UCL is intact."
Gonsolin has been shut down from throwing with the hope that a few days of rest would help alleviate some of his discomfort. He was also scheduled to have his elbow examined by a specialist to rule out a more significant injury.
