In a recent Cactus League match, the Los Angeles Dodgers ended their three-game losing streak, defeating the San Diego Padres 8-3. The Padres took an early lead with two runs in the second inning; however, the Dodgers quickly responded with a game-tying two-run double from Zyhir Hope. Mookie Betts contributed a sacrifice fly for the lead. After a tie, the Dodgers pulled ahead in the eighth with key hits, including a three-run double by Kody Hoese. Dustin May made his return to the mound, showcasing his ability post-injury.
Mike Brosseau hit a leadoff double and took third base on a wild pitch. Ethan Salas' RBI double broke the scoreless tie and gave the Padres their first run against the Dodgers since Game 3 of the National League Division Series.
Zyhir Hope continued his strong showing in spring with a game-tying two-run double in the bottom of the second. The double gave Hope a hit in his second consecutive game and came after he previously showed off strong range with impressive catches against the Chicago Cubs last week.
Mookie Betts followed the extra-base hit with a sacrifice fly that gave the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. San Diego later pulled even, but L.A. broke the tie on David Bote's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Dustin May made his first start of 2025 Dodgers Spring Training in what was his first game action since May 2023. The right-hander pitched through some traffic and ended a scoreless first inning with a strikeout.
