Max Muncy, a player known for his power and on-base capabilities, is currently experiencing a slump with a batting average of just .186. Despite his struggles, Muncy's career on-base percentage remains respectable at .350. Recently diagnosed with astigmatism, he hopes that new prescription glasses will help improve his performance. Analysts predict that the Dodgers will exercise Muncy's $10 million option for next season due to his loyalty and past contributions, reflecting their investment in his development since joining the team.
"I do (think he's back next season) And I mean, picking up $10 million is a no-brainer," Nightengale said. "I would think they just simply do that, and then play it by ear and see what happens after the end of 2026."
Muncy has never been a player who hits for average. For his career, he's only a .226 hitter. Having said that, he's normally an on-base machine.
Muncy recently began wearing prescription glasses after a recent diagnosis of astigmatism in his right eye. He is hopeful that the change helps him turn a corner.
In a sense, Muncy is also a poster child for the immense developmental skills the Dodgers have cultivated in the Andrew Friedman era.
