"It was very shocking," Edman said of the trade from St. Louis to The Orange County Register. "I haven't heard of too many guys getting traded while on the injured list, so I kind of thought that my name wasn't going to be a part of it."
Edman expects to return to the field soon after recovering from wrist surgery and an ankle sprain, with a rehab assignment ongoing since July 9, playing as a designated hitter.
