The Dodgers will honor Fernando Valenzuela, who sparked 'Fernandomania' and became a legend, with a jersey patch during the World Series and the 2025 season.
As a 20-year-old rookie, Valenzuela captivated Southern California in 1981, winning both Rookie of the Year and the National League Cy Young Award.
Valenzuela, who pitched for the Dodgers from 1980 to 1990, had an impressive 173-153 record, a 3.54 ERA, and 2,074 strikeouts over his career.
After 17 seasons in the majors, Valenzuela became a Spanish-language broadcaster for the Dodgers in 2003, a role he left recently to focus on his health.
