Shohei Ohtani faced a significant injury during Game 2 of the 2024 World Series, resulting in a partial dislocation of his left shoulder. Though limited in performance, he helped the Dodgers win the championship. After the season, Ohtani had successful surgery to repair a labrum tear. As Spring Training begins, Ohtani is actively participating in workouts and remains hopeful about contributing on schedule. However, manager Dave Roberts indicated that Ohtani's return to pitching might be delayed until May.
The schedule of how things will progress will depend on the kind of injury I sustained in the shoulder...I'm on schedule. I've been able to work out every day.
It might be a little longer, but I'm focused on being ready for the season.
Ohtani underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to repair a labrum tear that was a byproduct of what the team initially deemed a left shoulder subluxation.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts...suggested that Ohtani pitching in a game would not take place until May at the earliest.
