The Dodgers acquired Biggio and cash considerations in a trade that sent Minor League pitcher Braydon Fisher to the Toronto Blue Jays. Biggio hit just .200/.323/.291 with four doubles, two home runs and nine RBI in 44 games for the Blue Jays this year.
Now with the Dodgers, Biggio will get an opportunity to revamp his career as a versatile option off their bench. He has primarily played second base but also is capable of manning first base, third base and all three outfield spots.
Last season the Dodgers planned on Vargas becoming their everyday second baseman but he never quite took hold of the role. Vargas' struggles ultimately led to getting demoted to Oklahoma City during the All-Star break.
