The Dodgers have expressed interest in the right-hander, according to a person with knowledge of the situation but not authorized to speak publicly, after he was designated for assignment this week.
Gallegos had served as one of the Cardinals' top late-inning relievers but was dropped further down the bullpen hierarchy following a 2023 season in which he struggled to find his groove.
In 21 appearances this season, Gallegos has recorded a 2-1 record with a 6.53 ERA, 21 strikeouts, a 1.65 WHIP, and an opponents' batting average of .286 (the highest he's allowed in his career) in 20.2 innings.
If Gallegos isn't traded or claimed off waivers, he will likely elect free agency and look for a club to join at a team-friendly price.
