""Our little angel, we love you forever & you're with us always," the Vesias wrote. "There are no words to describe the pain we're going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.""
""This is so much bigger than baseball," Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said at the time. "And for us, it was doing whatever small part we could to just 100% be supportive.""
""Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time," the Vesias wrote. "Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn't be able to do this without them. "Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It's brought us so much comfort.""
Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla, announced the death of their daughter, Sterling, on Oct. 26. The loss occurred during the off week between the National League Championship Series and the World Series, and Vesia stepped away from the team. The Dodgers left him off the World Series roster and the family medical emergency list to avoid pressuring his return. Team leadership and teammates expressed support, and both Dodgers and Blue Jays relievers honored Vesia by writing his No. 51 on their caps. The Vesias thanked the organizations and fans for messages and comfort.
