As an infant, he was put in tiny casts that he kept kicking off. At four months, he underwent surgery to lengthen his tendons. Three months after that came what his father calls a full foot reconstruction. Freeland learned to walk with a cast all the way up to his hip, a developmental hurdle that has left him with a slightly stilted gait.
One scout who saw Freeland last year observed, 'You'd never know watching him play the field. His timing is uncanny.' This reflects the skill and determination he's demonstrated on the field.
Freeland’s journey has been inspiring, particularly reflecting on his past. His struggles with a clubfoot as a child have shaped him, yet he never lets it define his ability to compete at high levels.
With a recent significant home run and his impressive performance in the Triple-A, Freeland showcases his potential and readiness for the major leagues after overcoming early life challenges.
