Muncy has endured multiple injuries this season, missing a month after Chicago White Sox outfielder Michael A. Taylor slid into his knee on a fluke play at third base. He returned ahead of schedule but then injured his oblique during pregame cage work and missed another month. He recently returned but has not yet regained his expected offensive impact, and the team hopes the hand/wrist issue is not serious so he can return quickly.
