According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Chicago Cubs landed Paredes ahead of the trade deadline. Chicago seemingly came out of nowhere to trade for the All-Star.
With the plethora of injuries to the infielders, Los Angeles sought updates and likely wanted to add pitching and infield help before the trade deadline.
The Dodgers have some work to do with the deadline approaching, as they aim to address their needs with competition from the San Diego Padres in the NL West race.
