Dodgers manager Dave Roberts updated fans on catcher Will Smith's status after he left a Cactus League game due to a knee hit by a pitch. Although he was removed as a precaution, Smith has been dealing with a chronic ankle injury since last June, diagnosed as a bone bruise. The injury has persisted into the new season, affecting his performance, but he has still made appearances in recent games. Roberts acknowledged that the injury is likely to remain an issue for Smith this season.
"I just don't think it's something that's gonna go away anytime soon," Roberts said, via Jack Harris of The Los Angeles Times. "It just kind of is what it is."
