Brandon Gomes: Dodgers Getting Michael Busch Playing Time Got 'Harder And Harder'
Briefly

"It just became harder and harder with the way we were constructed to get him playing time," Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes said. "We all felt Michael was a big leaguer and ready to take the next step towards facing MLB pitching every day. And we just didn't have the opportunity to do that."
The trade has paid off for Busch, who is now the Cubs' long-term solution at first base. Although he's cooled off slightly, he's maintaining a solid .234/.319/.430 with extra-base hits and RBI in 50 games.
"Busch has benefited from the change of scenery," Cody Bellinger noted. Facing his former team, Busch hit his first home run of the season, a moment that brought relief rather than excitement.
