USC No. 2 in women's poll for 1st time since '86
Briefly

USC's women's basketball team has reached its highest ranking in 39 years, moving up to No. 2 in The Associated Press Top 25 poll. This achievement follows their victory against UCLA, securing the Big Ten regular-season title. Coach Lindsay Gottlieb expressed pride in restoring USC's historical reputation. Texas remains ranked first, while UCLA has dropped to fourth. North Carolina State and TCU are also highly ranked, as is newcomer South Dakota State, making its first appearance in the poll since 2022 after an impressive undefeated conference season.
"A goal was to come here and bring USC back to what it was at one point, recognition of our history and admiration of the history and it's a neat feeling in the present moment."
"The Trojans won the Big Ten regular-season title Saturday, beating then-No. 2 UCLA for the second time this year, which vaulted USC up two spots for its highest appearance in the poll since the team was second on Jan. 5, 1986."
