JJ Redick said what we're all thinking about the Most Improved Player Award
Briefly

As NBA award season approaches, JJ Redick publicly criticized the Most Improved Player (MIP) award during a media session. He voiced concerns over the ambiguity of the award's criteria, suggesting it often rewards high draft picks who eventually meet expectations, rather than players who have made significant improvements. Redick humorously labeled the award as one that could be more accurately described as ‘the high draft pick that is on a max contract and now is an All-Star.’ He believes it should honor those players who exceed the public's expectations rather than simply fulfilling them, with Cade Cunningham being a current favorite in the conversation.
I hate that award because they fail to define it. And I think the spirit of it has been taken out of wax.
Just call it the high draft pick that is on a max contract and now is an All-Star. Who’s that guy? Because that’s what it’s become.
The award should go to a player reaching expectations the general population never assumed would be possible for said athlete.
Considering they were generally high draft picks who were supposed to be stars and all became that, can they really be the most improved players?
