Michael Keaton wants to go by his real name again - which is shared with another Hollywood star
Briefly

Michael Keaton, who was born Michael John Douglas, aims to formally change his professional name to Michael Keaton Douglas, a decision he almost made during the filming of his latest movie, 'Knox Goes Away'. He acknowledged forgetting to officially transition his name but expressed his commitment to doing so. During his ascent in Hollywood, he found it necessary to adopt a stage name due to SAG regulations and the presence of other industry professionals with similar names.
Reflecting on the beginnings of his career, Keaton stated: 'I got a gig. I was just starting out and I got this job, and because of union there was Mike Douglas, who used to have a talk show, and Michael Douglas, the movie star and actor. Somebody said, 'Well you have to change your name.' And I said, 'Well I don't want to change my name. I'm very proud of my name.'"
The actor recounted the adventurous thought process behind his stage name creation: 'I was looking through - I can't remember if it was a phone book. I must've gone, 'I don't know, let me think of something here.' And I went, 'Oh, that sounds reasonable.'"
Keaton shared a humorous anecdote involving his recent film: 'I said, 'Hey, just as a warning, my credit is going to be Michael Keaton Douglas.' But it totally got away from me.' This speaks to the importance he places on his identity and the legacy behind his name in the industry.
