Oracle JDK 24 appears in rare version-feature alignment
Briefly

Oracle JDK 24 has launched with 24 enhancement proposals alongside over 3,000 bug fixes. This feature release, supported for six months, aligns with the JavaOne 2025 conference. With the next long-term support release, Java 25, slated for September, Oracle seeks to balance the needs of developers wanting quick updates with enterprises requiring stability in their software stacks. Notable changes include a new Class-File API aimed at improving development efficiency.
The synchronicity of version number and JEP count "was not intentional, just kind of turned out that way, but it's nice," said Oracle SVP Georges Saab.
Java 24's arrival coincides with the advent of the JavaOne 2025 conference... Oracle has announced plans to move its headquarters to Nashville, Tennessee.
