Cybercriminals can access a user's WhatsApp conversations in real time by manipulating the app's device pairing or linking routine. The technique is termed ' GhostPairing ' by researchers at security company Gen Digital, which owns Norton, Avast, Avira, and AVG. No passwords or account details are required to execute the attack. The campaign was recently detected in Czechia. Attackers initiate the exploit by persuading a user to click a malicious link sent as a WhatsApp message that purports to reveal a Facebook photo, enabling unauthorized device pairing and conversation access.
