Thousands of Fortinet's FortiGate edge devices were exposed in a Chinese-backed hacking campaign

The Dutch intelligence services discovered a remote access trojan (RAT) called Coathanger designed for FortiGate devices. It is persistent, surviving reboots and firmware upgrades.
Investigations revealed the Chinese government-backed group exploited a FortiGate vulnerability to access at least 20,000 devices globally, infecting as many as 14,000 during a zero-day period.
