"Identity and access management is a system for keeping track of who is accessing digital systems and what data they have permission to access. Such systems have always been an important aspect of cybersecurity. They are a way to limit the kinds of information a hacker who has stolen someone's credentials-or that a rogue employee-can access and potentially pilfer or damage."
""We've been thinking about how we really help our customers solve those complicated problems [around managing AI agents] and strengthen their ability to deliver on AI plans while having security and governance built in," he said."
ServiceNow acquired Veza, a Los Gatos startup specializing in identity and access management for humans and AI agents. The acquisition expands ServiceNow's cybersecurity portfolio, which generates more than $1 billion in annual sales. The deal addresses customer demand from chief information security officers for tools to control and track data accessed by people and AI agents. Veza was last valued at $808 million in April funding and reports suggested the purchase exceeded $1 billion. Identity and access management limits what stolen credentials or rogue employees can access and protects sensitive information. Such controls grow more critical as AI agents perform information retrieval and transaction tasks.
