ShinyHunters, an extortion-focused cybercrime group, appears to have been involved in some recent Scattered Spider attacks and the two groups are believed to have merged. The groups posted an online manifesto claiming retirement and taunting law enforcement. Cybersecurity professionals remain skeptical of a complete retirement and urge organizations not to let their guard down, citing past cases where groups rebranded rather than quit.
