A recent network security incident severely impacted Bartlesville Public Schools' internet systems, halting essential operations and prompting the cancellation of state testing. Granger Meador, the district's executive director of technology, confirmed that several computer systems became inoperable due to the breach. Although essential services such as phones and Chromebooks on hotspots continued to function, the overall disruption significantly affected the school day. In response to the situation, the district has engaged external cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident and assess its implications.
"Bartlesville Public Schools has detected a network security incident that is impacting the availability of many of the District's computer systems," Meador said in a statement.
While essential services like phones, life safety systems and Chromebooks on hotspots remain functional, the outage has already upended the school day.
