Microsoft has informed customers that a software bug hampered the consistent collection of log data for essential cloud services, impacting security capabilities.
Due to a malfunction in Microsoft’s internal monitoring agents, which occurred between September 2 and September 19, there were significant inconsistencies in log data uploads.
Although there was no evidence of cyberattacks linked to this incident, the failure to collect logs could mean missing critical security events and threats.
The disruption specifically affected crucial products like Microsoft Sentinel, which may have led to gaps in security-related logs, thereby impairing threat detection.
