Microsoft gives Windows 10 its penultimate update - but saves the best for Windows 11
"Hey Windows users, it's time once again to install the latest monthly updates on your PC, courtesy of September's Patch Tuesday. Whether you run Windows 11 or are still on Windows 10, you'll find important feature and security fixes that should be applied. Otherwise, Microsoft is clearly focusing more on Windows 11 as its only officially supported OS come Oct. 14."
"To install the September update, just head to Settings. In Windows 10, select Update & security, and then click Windows Update. In Windows 11, simply select Windows Update. Since the Patch Tuesday updates are required, the installation should kick off automatically. If not, click the button to Check for updates to get started. Windows 10 users will receive a cumulative update dubbed , while those on Windows 11 will see installed on their systems."
September's Patch Tuesday brings cumulative updates that provide bug fixes, feature changes, and security patches for both Windows 10 and Windows 11. A total of 81 security flaws are addressed across both operating systems, including two zero-day vulnerabilities; one zero-day targets the SMB protocol and could allow improper authentication and credential interception between services. Installation proceeds via Settings → Windows Update (Update & security on Windows 10), and updates should install automatically or after clicking Check for updates; a reboot completes the process. Microsoft is shifting focus toward Windows 11 as the only officially supported OS after Oct. 14, and this is the penultimate monthly update for Windows 10.
