Xu Zewei has been extradited to the United States after being accused of conducting cyberattacks for the Chinese government. The U.S. Justice Department alleges that Xu, along with co-conspirator Zhang Yu, targeted U.S. universities to steal COVID-19 research and hacked thousands of Microsoft Exchange email servers. Xu was arrested in Italy at the request of U.S. authorities and is currently detained in Houston, Texas. His legal representation is preparing for a hearing regarding the charges against him.
