The Gujarat ATS has apprehended Jasim Shahnawaz Ansari, an 18-year-old, for orchestrating cyberattacks on Indian government websites during Operation Sindoor. Despite being a 12th-grade dropout, he demonstrated advanced programming skills, which he misused to promote radical ideologies. Ansari's actions included targeting at least 20 government sites on May 7, amidst heightened military tensions following a terror attack. He reportedly shared anti-India sentiments on Telegram, emphasizing his desire for retaliation. Legal action against him is grounded in cybersecurity laws aimed at protecting national security and maintaining public safety.
The accused attempted to bring down at least 20 government websites on May 7, the day when Operation Sindoor was launched.
Parmar said that a case had been registered against the accused on May 19 at ATS Police Station under sections 66(F) and 43 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
