FCC takes some action against notorious BGP
Briefly

The FCC has unanimously approved a notice of proposed rulemaking that will require internet service providers to prepare, and annually update, a confidential BGP security risk management plan.
BGP, a crucial protocol for internet traffic routing, lacks built-in security measures, leading to potential hijacking incidents by rogue or accidental network administrators and providers.
Noteworthy BGP hijacking incidents include Pakistan knocking YouTube offline in 2008, Russia limiting access to Twitter during the Ukraine invasion, and China Telecom rerouting American internet traffic multiple times.
"While BGP has allowed network operators to grow and evolve the modern internet, it was not designed with explicit security features to ensure trust in exchanged information," Rosenworcel said.
