""Cybersecurity professionals are navigating an increasingly complex threat landscape, marked by the rapid evolution of threats and an increase in both the frequency and sophistication of attacks," Chris McGowan, ISACA principal for information security professional practices, said in a statement. More than 3,800 cybersecurity experts were surveyed. Two-thirds reported roles are more stressful than five years ago, and 63% identified threat landscape complexity as the top stressor. High stress drives attrition for 47% of respondents. Forty-three percent expect an attack within a year while only 41% express confidence in their teams' incident-response capabilities. Thirty-nine percent believe cybercrime is underreported even when reporting is required. The most common attacks are social engineering (44%), exploited vulnerabilities (37%), and malware (36%). One-third reported an increase in incidents, and understaffing worsens stress. Regular support, training, and well-being prioritization are emphasized.
