BT Group confirms attempted attack on Conferencing division

BT Group is currently dealing with an attempted attack on its BT Conferencing platform by the Black Basta ransomware group, which claimed to have breached its systems.
'We identified an attempt to compromise our BT Conferencing platform,' a spokesperson said, adding that the incident was limited to specific parts of the system that were quickly isolated.
Black Basta reportedly claimed to have stolen approximately 500 GB of files from BT Conferencing, which included financial documents and employee data, although some appeared outdated.
This ransomware group is highly active, potentially generating over $100 million since its formation in April 2022, targeting around 500 organizations across various sectors.
