Android malware steals payment card data using previously unseen technique
Briefly

ESET discovered NGate malware that leverages NFC technology to clone card data from infected Android devices, allowing attackers to withdraw money directly from ATMs.
ESET researcher Lukas Stefanko indicated this is a first in the wild Android malware scenario that utilizes compromised NFC capabilities for financial theft.
The NGate malware is propagated through traditional phishing methods, tricking users into installing fake banking applications that request sensitive information and NFC activation.
The campaign against three banks began in November, with specific vulnerabilities exploited in Progressive Web Apps, which can bypass non-official source restrictions on installations.
