You Can Stream the Original Four Seasons Movie Very Soon
Briefly

Alan Alda's 1981 film 'The Four Seasons' was previously unavailable for streaming until an announcement by Tina Fey revealed it would join her Netflix adaptation on May 5. Despite inquiries to Netflix, Universal Pictures, and Alda's team, the reasons for its prior unavailability remained unclear. Typically, older films can fall through the cracks of streaming services, and Universal, as the rights holder, had options to license it earlier. Insights suggested that unavailability was due to negotiations over licensing and promotional windows rather than a lack of interest.
We never did get a straight answer as to why it was unavailable in the first place, but it's not that uncommon for decades-old movies to slip through the streaming cracks.
Universal confirmed to us that as the original producer and distributor, it held the rights, so throwing it up on NBCU's Peacock... were always options.
