The stop-motion sci-fi anime Junk World, a sequel to Takahide Hori's acclaimed film Junk Head, is set to release in Japanese theaters on June 13. Taking place 1,042 years earlier, it follows Robin, tasked with escorting commander Triss to study a cult of artificial humans. Both characters unravel a multidimensional rift threatening reality. Hori, a self-taught animator, shares that both films emerge from his desire to create engaging stories and art, using rare analog techniques. The film was financed through crowdfunding, raising substantial money, and is distributed by Aniplex.
I originally just loved watching movies, and I made Junk Head as a movie that I wanted to see, and it was well received by many people. And my second film, Junk World, is also a work filled with things that I wanted to see.
The sequel, Junk World, takes place approximately 1,042 years before the previous film. The film centers on Robin, who is assigned to act as the bodyguard of Triss, a female commander.
