Kevin Smith's fantasy comedy film Dogma, originally released in 1999, will return to theaters for its 25th anniversary. AMC Theatres and Iconic Events Releasing are set to tour 25 cities starting June 5th with the film remastered in 4K and including a special Q&A with Smith. The film stars notable actors and critiques Catholic doctrine, attracting controversy upon its initial release. Smith will commence the celebrations with a special April screening at The Grove, Los Angeles, following the reclaiming of distribution rights from Harvey Weinstein.
God bless Iconic Events for granting my fourth (and perhaps best) film a religious re-release! Praise the Lord and pass the popcorn for the second coming of Dogma!
Widely released on November 12th, 1999, Dogma served as Smith's fourth feature film and starred Ben Affleck and Matt Damon as fallen angels seeking to return to heaven.
