Alison Brie and Dave Franco are being sued by StudioFest for copyright infringement concerning their film 'Together.' StudioFest claims it had pitched a similar script, 'Better Half,' to the couple in 2020, which they declined. Discovered in January 2025, the couple is now producing a film with similar themes, leading StudioFest to accuse them of creating a 'blatant rip-off.' The lawsuit highlights striking similarities in plot points and character development, alleging the couple has stolen their original work, prompting a trial to hold them accountable.
StudioFest claimed that they pitched the script to Franco and Brie's agents at WME in 2020 but the couple allegedly passed on the offer to star.
In the lawsuit, StudioFest accused Brie and Franco of producing a 'blatant rip-off' of a 'Better Half,' alleging exclusive rights to develop the project.
StudioFestâs attorney pointed to the 'striking similarities' between both films, including the plot points about a couple fused together as a metaphor for codependency.
'The similarities between the two works are staggering and defy any innocent explanation,' Miller said, asserting that his client's original work was stolen.
