In a recent episode of "Club Random," Bill Maher discussed the inaccuracies in how conservatives are portrayed on shows like "Saturday Night Live." Maher highlighted the outdated stereotype represented by Tom Hanks through his character, Doug, who exemplified a caricature of a racist supporter of Trump. Maher emphasized that while he acknowledges the problem with certain MAGA supporters, the portrayal fails to accurately represent the diverse beliefs and values held by many who identify with that movement. Jillian Michaels noted the continued use of derogatory language toward Trump's supporters, reinforcing Maher's criticism.
I hated it too, and I said it on my show. I know. I hated it. Wearing the MAGA hat, not shaking hands with a Black person. And that's when I thought, 'You people don't know MAGA people.'
The whole 'deplorable' thing, referring to then-Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton infamously smearing Trump's supporters as 'a basket of deplorables,' noting, 'They're still doing that.'
