Nike Missile Site Open House & Storytelling | Marin Headlands

"Directions: Go North on 101, cross the GG Bridge, take Alexander Avenue exit and turn right. Go approx. 100 yards, through a cut in the mountain, and take the first left. Continue through the tunnel. Stay west on Bunker Road for approx 2.5 miles. Turn left on Field Road. About 150 yards after, you will see the Marin Headlands Visitor Center on your right. Site SF-88L will be the first right past the Visitor Center parking lot."

Open 12:30–3:30 pm every first Saturday, the site offers up-close views of a restored Cold War Nike anti-aircraft missile installation and guided storytelling by Nike veterans, park rangers, and volunteers. The site is the only restored Nike missile battery in the United States and displays Cold War-era equipment and operational features. The United States Army built and operated 280 Nike missile batteries from 1953 to 1979 as a last line of defense against Soviet bombers.
