London's first Roman basilica found under office basement
Briefly

Archaeologists have unearthed the remains of London's first Roman basilica, built around 70-80 A.D., under an office building slated for demolition. This basilica served as the central hub for Londinium's civic activities, facilitating administrative, judicial, and commercial events. It featured a two-story structure facing a courtyard for public markets and festivals. Despite previous uncertainties about its exact location or existence, the Museum of London Archaeology confirmed vast foundations from the basilica, particularly where important civic decisions were traditionally made, indicating Londinium's rapid growth as a major city.
What makes this discovery even more special is the fact we believe these foundations are within an area of the Basilica known as the Tribunal.
The basilica was the main civic building where the city's administrative, judicial and commercial affairs were transacted.
