The JORVIK Viking Festival, celebrating its 40th anniversary, is taking place in York from February 17 to 23. This year's event features historical re-enactments, hands-on experiences, and theatrical spectacles, including a new Viking longship and a unique legendary sword. The festival attracts visitors worldwide, with a free living history encampment and interactive experiences that immerse attendees in 10th-century Viking life. Highlights include a parade of over 200 Vikings and the Viking Games, promising excitement and educational opportunities for all attendees.
In the medieval period, the Vikings were known as fierce warriors; in our living history encampment, they are brilliant explainers and interpreters who love to talk about their specialist areas of expertise.
